Revenue earned from these sources benefits Gem County, as the income pulled from outside is spent locally.

Many of our home based business owners create artisan products that are sold at local farmers markets, festivals, and events. For some home-based workers, these products include handmade foods, garments, and home goods. Some independent workers also create customized items for local residents.

On the opposite end of the spectrum are the service-oriented businesses. Services provided can include consulting and commissioned work. Some Gem County workers also telecommute or work with teams scattered across Idaho. All of these workers form an integral part of our local workforce, and the businesses they run generate revenue for the county.

A home based job is also ideal for parents and part time workers who do not want to commit to long hours.

The low start-up cost of a home-based business is an attractive lure for would-be entrepreneurs who lack the capital necessary to launch a pricey business endeavor. We work to support those interested in starting a home-based business, by providing support and helping to link such workers with other organizations in Gem County who cater to such groups.
